TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) –- The historical house that belonged to popular and well-known philanthropist Arbab Rostam Giv is currently being renovated by Jihad Daneshgahi University and the Tehran Cultural Heritage Department.

The house located on Enqelab Avenue in Tehran was built between 1911 and 1928, partly under Reza Shah Pahlavi in the form of a central mansion, prior to the construction of Enqelab Avenue. A new door was added on the main street side in the 1930s, 3 meters from the northern door of the mansion.

Covering 2,000 square meters, it was constructed as a two-storey building. The renovation includes reinforcement of the wooden truss and the changing and reinforcement of eroded gable roofs.

The mansion was registered as a national monument in 1999 due to its historical status and because it belonged to an important Tehrani benefactor. It operates now as a governmental building under the supervision of Jihad Daneshgahi University.

Arbab Rostam Giv, born in 1886 in Tehran, devoted his life to charity work and setting up institutes for charity throughout the country.

His activities include founding the Rostam Giv Foundation (1958), developing existing charities, building the Giv School for Girls in Tehran, establishing a social-cultural complex, a clinic, and donating land and buildings to the then Ministry of Health. RM/DFM/SRM END MNA
